KARL ALMARIA
Decades of DJ experience, a multi-genre comfort zone, creative mixing style, and on-point track selection have taken him to DJ gigs all around Chicago, 19 USA states, and as far away as the Philippines & Mexico. On occasion, he performs as a duo with his brother Geto Mark AKA Mark Almaria as The Flying Almaria Brothers.
Karl currently maintains a 200 gig/year DJ schedule that includes appearances at various residencies, regular spots, one-off gigs, and festival appearances across Chicago and beyond. In addition, Karl and his wife Cindy throw events as Brunchlox (since 2009) – including popular day parties such as Brunch-Ski (at Maria’s Community Bar/Kimski), Sunday AF (at Logan 11), and Magikiss (at Masada). On the record label front, Karl headed up Bunchlox Music (originally co-founded with Rees Urban). It released 11 vinyl EPs. From the start, the imprint’s consistent quality releases quickly created an international following.
His original tracks & remixes have found their way into many DJ’s sets (including Diz, DJ Heather, and Mark Farina) and have become the subject of track IDs in many House Music circles. Karl has released music on Hudd Traxx, Guess Who?, Photo Records, Red Brunette, Footwear, Juiced Music, Round House, Panama Red, and Doin’ Work.
