Bootleg Contraband is an electronic music duo Chicago, consisting of Cason Trager and Lou Sceelo. The duo met by accident in Chicago in the spring of 2019 and quickly formed a friendship based on their mutual love for music. By the fall of 2019, they had officially formed Bootleg Contraband . Their first single, βWhat Is This?!β, was released on December 29, 2019, through Section Eight Music . During the COVID-19 pandemic, they released a series of singles and remixes, collaborating with artists such as R34L, Josh Fina, and Mark Pistel. This period saw the duo honing their craft and experimenting with various sounds .

In November 2021, Bootleg Contraband released their debut album, βI/Oβ, which was well-received for its innovative soundscapes and deep-driving beats. The album showcased their ability to blend different electronic music genres while maintaining a cohesive sonic identity . Following the success of their debut album, they released βI/O Remixedβ, which featured reimagined versions of their original tracks. This album included collaborations with various artists, further pushing the boundaries of their music by incorporating elements of house, techno, and drum & bass . Bootleg Contraband draws inspiration from electronic music pioneers like Kraftwerk and Ron Hardy. Their music is characterized by a blend of techno, electro, Latin, and minimal sounds. This eclectic mix allows them to create a unique and dynamic auditory experience that stands out in the electronic music scene.
